What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that is soothing and relaxing. It is done in person via the application of hands or connecting from a distance at a previously agreed time. Both methods work equally well.

What happens during a Reiki Session?

​

On arrival for your first Reiki session, you will be invited to discuss any concerns you may be experiencing at the moment. This will help me understand your particular needs and which areas of your body I should focus on. Please rest assured that you do not have to disclose any information at all.

​

During your Reiki session you will be asked to take off your watch and jewelry. Then you will lie down on a massage table and be covered with a cosy blanket, if you wish. If you cannot lie down, you will be seated in a comfortable position on a chair. I will then gently place my hands just above or onto your body in various positions. 

​

You may experience different sensations during or after your session. You may feel warm, cold, tingling, see colours or shapes, or nothing at all. You will however feel relaxed and well cared for.

Can anyone learn Reiki?

​

Yes, anyone can learn Reiki. To be able to use the soul energy, you have to be attuned by a trained Reiki Master in a sacred ceremony, which reconnects you to the energy source.

​

The Reiki attunement re-activates the knowledge that has been dormant within you. Through the attunements, you are given many possibilities to take your life into your own hands. You also become a channel for Reiki and can transfer it onto yourself or others through application of hands.

​

There are 3 different Levels of Reiki - Level I, Level II and Master/Teacher Level III.

 

Reiki Level I is the beginner level and helps you understand the energy and how it works. You will receive 4 attunements over 2 1/2 days, learn the history of Reiki, the Reiki Principles, the hand positions, how to apply these hand positions and the impact on body, mind and spirit, ethics around using Reiki and Byosen.

Reiki Level II conveys the ‘Oku Den’, Japanese for secret knowledge over 2 1/2 days. You will receive an attunement into and learn the three sacred symbols of traditional Reiki plus a blockage release symbol, learn distance/absentee healing, mental/emotional healing, how to install a Reiki shower, blockage removal and room clearing.

How does Reiki work?

​

Science has proven that we are surrounded by energy. As Reiki is soul energy, it is part of this us all encompassing energy pool. The person attuned into Reiki can tap into this energy and channel it – this means it travels through their body and comes out focused in their hands.

 

These are then placed on or just above the body of the Reiki recipient and with that the energy travels into the recipients’ body. Reiki then helps to detoxify the body by helping the body cleanse itself through the blood, the lymph, sweat and gastric fluids. The more regular Reiki treatments are received, the more the body can return to its natural balance.

Why do I have to be attuned?

​

To have an epiphany open up your dormant channels takes years of study, research and meditation. Most of us do not have the time or energy to go through this process. Usui found the solution to this problem in the attunements or initiation process.

 

The attunement is a powerful spiritual experience and introduces you to the energies. The Master/Teacher has a big influence on the outcome of the attunement, so only someone who is fully attuned to the frequencies of the energy to be transmitted and has studied it for many years can carry out a true initiation.
